The Road Ahead

The Future of Electric Vehicles

Posted by Mosaic Global Transportation on Mar 26, 2021 10:44:07 AM

Electric vehicles are the future. Today, the global electric vehicle market makes up 2.6% of global car sales and it is projected to become a 800 billion dollar industry by 2027. We at Mosaic Global Transportation are proud to be at the forefront of bringing that technology to the transportation industry.

Many Silicon Valley’s tech companies are looking for electric-only fixed route commuter shuttles. Giants in the industry like Google and Apple have committed to be 100% carbon neutral by 2030 and many others are following suit. Transportation is an important factor in reaching those goals, so we have become experts in the subject over the last year.

Of course, the high start-up costs when electrifying a fleet of vehicles are hard to ignore. In addition to planning and building a custom charging infrastructure on property, the actual vehicle costs can be pretty steep, so it’s important to know what to expect from a shuttle service that is all-electric. Today, large vehicle manufacturers such as Ford (Transit) and Mercedes (Sprinter) do not make electric vehicles. Instead, the gas engine version of these vehicles need to be purchased and then converted into electric, a process that can cost $100,000+ per vehicle.

Inhibitors like those mentioned above make it difficult to make the transition without an abundance of time, resources, and training. However, that won’t be the case for long! Companies like Ford and General Motors are dramatically increasing their infrastructure to contribute to the electric vehicle industry in the coming years.

And as these companies ramp up their electric offerings, we are proud to support our clients’ commitment to reducing their carbon footprint by investing in and building our own electric vehicle infrastructure now. Through assistance from state, federal, and private grants from companies like PG&E, we are beginning to make these changes now so that we can offer all-electric fleets in the near future.

“We work hard to always be on the cutting edge of our industry. The rise of electric vehicles is where our future is headed,” said Rhonda Brewster, the President of Mosaic Global Transportation, as she explained why this project is especially exciting to us. Between our passion for technological advancements and the environmental impact for good that this change will have, we are ready to move full speed ahead towards that electric future we’re all dreaming of.
