Technology in Transportation: 2021 Advancements

Posted by Mosaic Global Transportation on Mar 15, 2021 3:30:32 PM

When it comes to the intersection between technology and transportation, our industry has come a long way. Being headquartered in the heart of Silicon Valley, we at Mosaic Global Transportation understand the important role that advancements have in improving the customer experience and our own efficiency.

To help you identify which of our technical services will be the most helpful to your unique situation, here are the latest advancements within the world of transportation:

1. Live Updates for Fixed-Route Shuttle

Passengers who are waiting for a ride have been able to see a substantial amount of information regarding our shuttle services. However, due to advancements spurred by COVID-19, schedules and routes aren’t the only things that they’re able to access anymore!

Thanks to new technology that we’ve implemented over the last year, passengers can now reserve a seat in advance of the vehicle’s arrival to the pick up point. Additionally, if busses are too full according to social distancing standards, passengers can be alerted of that fact so that they know to catch a different one. When implemented in your transportation plan, this service can increase rider safety and comfort.

2. Electric Vehicles

Gas is the way of the past! Electric vehicles have been around for a while, but thanks to companies like Tesla who are paving the way for the popularization of these types of cars, we will see a significant increase in the number of electric vehicles over the next five years.

Many companies are committed to becoming carbon neutral in coming years. Due to this shift, we are seeing a huge increase in inquiries about electric vehicles. Our team is working around the clock as we speak, building up our infrastructure to support fully electric fleets for our clients. Not only do they help save the planet, but they are investments that, over time, will cost less to charge than it does to fuel up gas vehicles.

3. Safety

It’s undeniable that safety is a key component in transportation. Luckily for us, technology has advanced beyond cameras that only capture footage when an accident occurs.

Now, we are able to prevent accidents before they even happen. Face detection software can sound an alarm if it notices that a chauffeur is dozing off or distracted and vehicle integrated technology services can alert safety managers of unsafe driving. Advancements like this allow us to be proactive instead of reactive in keeping our passengers and chauffeurs safe.

4. Wifi

Access to WiFi in vehicles isn’t a new concept, but as these types of services improve, it’s important to know what caliber of connection you’re going to get. Instead of asking, “Do charter buses have WiFi,” take your questions for your transportation provider to the next level.

Requesting information about usage fees and informing the Account Manager who is working with you of what the WiFi will be used for are great places to start. If your passengers will be downloading and uploading files, that’s going to require a different level of internet access than if people will just be checking their email and doing basic web searches. The more information you can provide us with, the better service we’re able to offer.

5. Online Reservations

Mosaic Global Transportation has been at the forefront of technological advancements within our industry since our inception. We were proud to be one of the first transportation companies to allow customers to book services online and now, we’ve taken that feature to the next level.

The Mosaic Global Transportation mobile app allows you to not only book trips, but also to manage ongoing reservations, review past and upcoming reservations, and to store payment options. Now, accessing important information about your trips is easier than ever.
